## Connect

Unity Package Manager, Add package from git URL:

```
https://github.com/CoplayDev/unity-mcp.git?path=/MCPForUnity#main
```

OpenUPM:

```
openupm add com.coplaydev.unity-mcp
```

After installing the package, open Window, MCP for Unity, and click Configure All Detected Clients to write the MCP config for each client on your machine. Pin #v10.0.0 instead of #main in the git URL to stay on a release.

## Ask your coding agent

```text
Connect the Unity MCP server to my coding agent using its documented setup: https://github.com/CoplayDev/unity-mcp.
```

## What it does

MCP for Unity is a community MCP server that connects AI agents to a running Unity Editor. In plain language an agent can create scenes and GameObjects, add components, edit C# scripts, manage assets, run tests, profile and build the project. The README counts 47 tool entrypoints, grouped so you can turn on areas such as VFX, animation, UI and testing only when needed.

MCP for Unity installs as a Unity package from a git URL or OpenUPM, and its editor window configures every detected MCP client in one click. The server part runs on Python 3.10 or newer through uv. It can route to several open Unity instances, validate scripts with Roslyn, and run as a remote server with authentication. Version 10.0.0 shipped on 2026-06-30.

MCP for Unity is sponsored and maintained by Aura, which makes a paid AI assistant for Unity and Unreal, and it states it is not affiliated with Unity Technologies. The repo had 14,633 GitHub stars on 2026-10-01 and was pushed on 2026-09-30. The same team now also makes an open-source Godot server, Godot AI.

## When to use it

- You want to describe a scene and have the agent build it in the editor.
- You want the agent to write a C# script, attach it and test it.
- You want to run the test suite and have the agent fix what fails.
- You need repetitive asset or prefab changes done across a project.

## When to pick something else

- Projects without version control: the agent edits scripts, scenes and assets directly, so commit before a session.
- Older Unity versions: it supports Unity 2021.3 LTS to 6.x.
- Official support: it is a community project, not made by Unity Technologies.

## What it needs

- Unity 2021.3 LTS to 6.x
- Python 3.10 or newer through uv
