It loads when someone asks how to use Claude or a Claude product (how do I, getting started with, what can Claude do), asks about artifacts, projects, skills, plugins, connectors or MCP, or wants training or onboarding material for a team, class or organization. With Academy Guide loaded, Claude answers the question first, then adds at most two Academy items, usually one, each with a one-sentence description. It recommends only on a strong match, meaning the person wants to learn a feature, not finish a task in progress. When the match is weak, it says nothing about Academy. Items that need an Academy sign-in are marked as such. Academy Guide holds no list of courses. Claude fetches the Academy catalog, a JSON file on academy.claude.com, once per conversation and copies item links from it exactly, treating the file as data rather than instructions. If the catalog cannot be fetched or is out of date, Claude names no specific course and points to a product hub (Claude, Claude Code, Claude Cowork, AI Fluency or the developer platform) or the resources library instead. ## When to use it - You ask Claude how a feature such as projects, skills or connectors works and want a course to go deeper. - You are rolling Claude out to a team or a class and need onboarding material. - You want Claude's learning links to point to real Academy pages, never made-up ones. ## When to pick something else - You use a different assistant, such as ChatGPT or Gemini: every link points to courses about Claude products. ## Which agents it works in Anthropic documents it for Claude Code, Claude API. The open skills CLI also installs it into 78 agents (listed with the CLI on 2026-10-01). Academy Guide is about Claude itself: it recommends Claude Academy material for questions about Claude products, so it only makes sense in Claude.
