## Install

Install this skill with the skills CLI:

```
npx skills add cloudflare/skills --skill wrangler
```

Or, in Claude Code, add Cloudflare's plugin marketplace:

```
/plugin marketplace add cloudflare/skills
```

Then install the cloudflare plugin (all 16 skills plus Cloudflare's MCP server):

```
/plugin install cloudflare@cloudflare
```

Or, in Codex, add the same marketplace from your terminal:

```
codex plugin marketplace add cloudflare/skills
```

Then install the cloudflare plugin and start a new Codex session:

```
codex plugin add cloudflare@cloudflare
```

In VS Code with GitHub Copilot, Cloudflare's README says to enable chat.plugins.enabled, run Chat: Install Plugin From Source, and enter https://github.com/cloudflare/skills. In Cursor, install it from the Cursor Marketplace.

## Ask your coding agent

A skill can include scripts that run on your computer, so read its source first: https://github.com/cloudflare/skills/tree/HEAD/skills/wrangler

```text
Install the agent skill wrangler from github.com/cloudflare/skills.
```

## What it does

wrangler is an agent skill from Cloudflare for work done through the Wrangler CLI. Before writing any command it has the agent inspect the project: package manager, the locally installed Wrangler version, scripts, framework and the config file actually used for build and deploy. It tells the agent not to rely on memorized flags and not to upgrade Wrangler silently, and to look up the exact command or config field in Cloudflare's docs.

The wrangler skill carries guardrails for changes that touch real resources. The agent confirms the target account, Worker and environment first, checks which bindings are local and which are remote, reconciles dashboard edits that a deploy would overwrite, and keeps secret values out of commands and logs. It treats wrangler secret put as a deployment, because it ships a new version at once, and warns that rollbacks do not roll back data.

A section on Workers Previews covers branch and pull request environments, which need project-local Wrangler 4.135.0 or later, and reminds the agent that Preview URLs are public unless protected. Validation means regenerating types, running tests and a dry-run deploy, then reporting what changed and what stayed unverified.

## When to use it

- You want to deploy a Worker or a framework app to Cloudflare from the terminal.
- You need a KV, R2, D1 or Queues binding added to your Wrangler config.
- You want a preview environment for each pull request.
- A wrangler command fails with an authentication or permissions error.

## When to pick something else

- Projects that use cloudflare.config.ts or the newer cf CLI: the skill itself says to follow Cloudflare's cf CLI docs instead.

## What it needs

- A Cloudflare account and Wrangler installed in the project; Workers Previews need Wrangler 4.135.0 or later

## Which agents it works in

Cloudflare documents it for Claude Code, Codex, GitHub Copilot in VS Code, Cursor, OpenCode, Pi. The open skills CLI also installs it into 78 agents (listed with the CLI on 2026-10-01).

The skill prefers the docs tool of Cloudflare's MCP server when the agent has it, which the Claude Code and Codex plugins install; without it the agent fetches the linked documentation pages directly.
