Google Antigravity

Google Antigravity is an agentic development platform by Google that runs coding agents in a desktop command center, a standalone IDE, a CLI called agy and extensions for other editors.

What Google Antigravity does

Google Antigravity is a set of tools for running coding agents. Antigravity 2.0 is a desktop command center for running several local agents in parallel, Antigravity IDE is a standalone editor, and Antigravity CLI (agy) brings the agent to the terminal. Extensions put it inside VS Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Zed and Xcode, and there is a Python SDK.

Google Antigravity runs Gemini Flash and Pro models on every plan, and its models page also lists Claude Sonnet and Opus and an open GPT-OSS model on the consumer plans. It does not support bringing your own key or endpoint. Slash commands cover goals, scheduling and a browser, and the platform has remote control, a terminal sandbox and a plugin marketplace.

Google Antigravity is where Google moved free and Google AI Pro and Ultra users of Gemini CLI on 2026-06-18. The Individual plan is free with weekly rate limits; higher limits come with Google AI subscriptions, and businesses can buy through Google Cloud.

Who Google Antigravity is for

  • Developers who want a free agentic editor with unlimited Tab completions
  • People who already pay for Google AI Pro or Ultra
  • Former Gemini CLI users on personal Google accounts
  • Running several agents in parallel from one desktop app

Who should pick something else

  • Anyone who wants to bring their own API key or model endpoint: Antigravity does not support it
  • Teams that need models outside Google's list for their plan; Cursor, OpenCode and Cline offer wider choice
  • People who need an open source tool; Gemini CLI, OpenCode and Zed are open source

Google Antigravity: one strength, one limit

Strength. Google Antigravity's Individual plan is free and includes unlimited Tab completions and Command requests, across a desktop app, an IDE, a CLI and five editor extensions.

Limit. Google Antigravity does not support bring-your-own-key or custom endpoints, so you are limited to the models and weekly rate limits of your Google plan.

What Google Antigravity costs

Free Individual plan with weekly rate limits; Google AI subscriptions raise the limits, and businesses can buy through Google Cloud.

Google Antigravity with agent skills and MCP servers

Skills. Google Antigravity supports Agent Skills natively: a skill is a folder with a SKILL.md. All three apps read workspace skills from .agents/skills; global skills live in ~/.gemini/config/skills for the desktop app and IDE, and ~/.gemini/antigravity-cli/skills for the CLI, which turns each skill into a slash command. Skills can also ship in plugins installed with agy plugin install. The open skills CLI installs into .agents/skills. The docs give no date skills were added.

MCP. Google Antigravity adds MCP servers from Settings, Customizations, Installed MCP Servers, Add MCP (the MCP Store) in the desktop app, /mcp in the CLI, or the agent panel's ... menu, MCP Servers, in the IDE. Configs live under mcpServers in ~/.gemini/config/mcp_config.json (global) or .agents/mcp_config.json (workspace); remote servers must use serverUrl, not url.
