What RoboKana does

RoboKana shows the stroke order of each hiragana, katakana or kanji character with its reading, then you write it with your finger or Apple Pencil and the app checks your strokes, their order and direction.

Part of the content is free; with the in-app purchases it covers all hiragana and katakana, in both handwritten and printed forms, kanji for JLPT N5 to N3 and compound words with native-recorded audio.

You can build custom character sets, practise reading aloud and see learning statistics; progress syncs with iCloud.

Who RoboKana suits

  • Beginners in Japanese who want to learn to write kana and kanji by hand
  • Learners preparing for JLPT N5 to N3 kanji

One limit. Only part of the content is free; unlocking all kana and the JLPT N5 to N3 kanji needs in-app purchases.

What RoboKana costs

Part of the content is free; one-time in-app purchases unlock the kana sets, the JLPT N5 to N3 kanji, or everything.
