Iterate on PR

iterate-pr is Sentry's agent skill that keeps working on a GitHub pull request until CI passes and high and medium priority review comments are fixed, using bundled scripts and the gh CLI.

Install Iterate on PR

Install this skill with the skills CLI

Terminal
npx skills add getsentry/skills --skill iterate-pr

Or, for Claude Code, add Sentry's plugin marketplace

Terminal
claude plugin marketplace add getsentry/skills

Then install the sentry-skills plugin, which holds all 28 skills

Terminal
claude plugin install sentry-skills@sentry-skills

Restart Claude Code after installing the plugin. Sentry's README says its skills were written for Sentry employees, so some carry Sentry conventions.

Or paste this into your coding agent: Install the agent skill iterate-pr from github.com/getsentry/skills. A skill can include scripts that run on your computer, so read its source first.

What Iterate on PR does

iterate-pr is an agent skill from Sentry that drives a GitHub pull request to green. The agent finds the pull request for the current branch, then uses four bundled Python scripts run with uv: one fetches CI check results with failure snippets, one sorts review comments into high, medium, low, bot and resolved, one monitors checks, and one replies to review threads.

The iterate-pr loop fixes high and medium comments directly and asks the user which low-priority ones to handle. For a failed check it reads the full log, states the cause before editing, searches for the same problem elsewhere and fixes the root cause. It reruns the relevant test or linter locally, commits and pushes, then polls every 30 seconds and checks for new feedback once CI passes.

The skill knows which checks to wait for, the review bots Sentry, Warden, Cursor, Bugbot, Seer and CodeQL, and which never to wait for: human approval, draft status, required reviews and Codecov. It stops and reports when only human gates remain, when the branch needs a rebase, or when the same failure survives two attempts.

When to use Iterate on PR

  • Your pull request has failing CI and you want an agent to fix it and push.
  • Reviewers and review bots left comments and you want the real issues fixed.
  • You want an agent to keep watching CI until the checks pass.
  • You want low-priority nitpicks listed so you can choose which to address.

When to pick something else

  • Merging or approving: the skill never waits for or performs human approval, draft changes or merges.

What Iterate on PR needs

  • The GitHub CLI (gh), signed in
  • uv to run the bundled Python scripts
  • An open pull request for the current branch

Which agents Iterate on PR works in

Sentry documents Iterate on PR for Claude Code, Cursor, Cline, GitHub Copilot. The open skills CLI also installs it into 78 agents, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot, OpenCode (we listed it with the CLI on October 1, 2026). See where each agent looks for skills.

The workflow runs in any agent with a shell; one optional step uses Claude Code's Monitor tool to watch CI, with a polling loop as the default.
