gh-address-comments

GitHub address comments

gh-address-comments is OpenAI's agent skill for pull request review feedback: the agent fetches every comment and review thread on the open PR, numbers them, and fixes only the ones you pick.

Install GitHub address comments

Install the skill with the skills CLI

Terminal
npx skills add openai/skills --skill gh-address-comments

Or, inside Codex, use the built-in skill installer

Terminal
$skill-installer gh-address-comments

Or paste this into your coding agent: Install the agent skill gh-address-comments from github.com/openai/skills. A skill can include scripts that run on your computer, so read its source first.

What GitHub address comments does

GitHub address comments is a short skill from OpenAI's skills catalog for answering review feedback on a pull request. It works on the open pull request for your current branch, using the GitHub CLI. The agent checks that gh is logged in first and asks you to run gh auth login if it is not.

A bundled script, fetch_comments.py, prints every comment and review thread on the pull request. The agent numbers them and writes a one-line summary of what each fix would take, then asks which numbers you want handled. Nothing is changed until you choose.

After you pick, the agent applies fixes for the selected comments only. If gh hits an authentication or rate limit problem partway through, the skill tells the agent to ask you to log in again and retry, rather than guess.

When to use GitHub address comments

  • Your pull request has a long review and you want every comment listed in one place.
  • You want to choose which review comments the agent fixes and skip the rest.
  • You want a quick summary of what each requested change would involve.

When to pick something else

  • Writing a code review of someone else's pull request: the skill only answers comments already on yours.

What GitHub address comments needs

  • GitHub CLI (gh) logged in with repo and workflow scopes
  • Python, for the bundled comment script

Which agents GitHub address comments works in

OpenAI documents GitHub address comments for Codex, Any agent that reads SKILL.md files, through the skills CLI. The open skills CLI also installs it into 78 agents, including Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot, OpenCode (we listed it with the CLI on October 1, 2026). See where each agent looks for skills.

The instructions mention Codex's sandbox escalation (sandbox_permissions=require_escalated) for gh commands; other agents simply need network access for gh. OpenAI marked openai/skills deprecated on 2026-06-22 in favour of openai/plugins.
