Internal Comms

Internal Comms is Anthropic's open-source agent skill for writing inside a company: the agent drafts 3P updates, company newsletters, FAQs and other internal messages in set formats.

Install Internal Comms

In Claude Code, add Anthropic's skills marketplace

Terminal
/plugin marketplace add anthropics/skills

Then install the example-skills plugin, which holds this skill and Anthropic's other example skills

Terminal
/plugin install example-skills@anthropic-agent-skills

Or install only this skill, for any agent, with the skills CLI

Terminal
npx skills add anthropics/skills --skill internal-comms

In Claude.ai, Anthropic says its example skills are already available on paid plans: switch them on under Customize > Skills.

Or paste this into your coding agent: Install the agent skill internal-comms from github.com/anthropics/skills. A skill can include scripts that run on your computer, so read its source first.

What Internal Comms does

Internal Comms is an Anthropic skill for internal company writing. It loads when you ask for a company newsletter, an incident report, a FAQ, a project or status update, a 3P update (progress, plans, problems) or an update for leadership. The agent identifies the type of message, loads the matching guide from the skill's examples folder and follows its format and tone. The newsletter guide, for example, assumes a company of more than 1,000 people.

Internal Comms has four guides. A 3P update (Progress, Plans, Problems) covers one team's week and should take under a minute to read. A company newsletter runs about 20 to 25 short bullets in sections, written in the first person plural. FAQ answers turn the questions many employees are asking into one-sentence questions with short answers. A general guide covers everything else, and the agent first asks about audience, purpose, tone and format.

When tools are connected, the Internal Comms guides tell the agent to gather material from Slack, email, Google Drive and the calendar, favoring posts and documents with many reactions, replies or views. Without that access, the agent asks you what to cover and fits your notes to the format. For a 3P update it confirms the team name and time period first.

When to use Internal Comms

  • You owe leadership a weekly team update in a fixed Progress, Plans, Problems format.
  • You are putting together a company newsletter from what happened in Slack and email this week.
  • You want an FAQ of the questions people across the company keep asking.

When to pick something else

  • You are writing a long spec, proposal or design doc: use Doc Co-Authoring.
